PIÑATARAMA 2

Among contemporary design and popular tradition.

Piñatarama is a collaborative project  of Cecilia MeadeDavid Gamez, Clarisa Moura yDr. Alderete.
Piñatarama is a product of the curiosity of several designers, fascinated by the diversity of characters that invade the popular markets, were seduced by an idea: See their designs and characters turned into giant papier-mâché figure.

This project – which is done for the second time ( here a post of the first edition) , this time at the Museum of Modern Art seeks to surprise with unexpected results arising from the interpretation that a group of Mexican artisans made the characters created by artists, illustrators and designers from Mexico and the world. The exhibition offers the viewer a tour of a particular facility, where 40 piñatas reflect the appropriation of a culturally ingrained in Mexico subject to return reinterpreted in a contemporary piece.
